The Trusts ‘mission’ is to contribute to the forming of ” a community of good” which will endow the youth with the tools to fullfil their potential through reading and football.
The Booth Education and Sports Trust is registered as a charitable trust incorporated in accordance with the trust laws of the Republic of South Africa and operating under the rules and regulations of the jurisdiction of the Republic of South Africa.
Sonia graduated with a BComm in Marketing & Business Management and she was awarded a certificate in Rhetoric: The Art of Persuasive Writing & Public Speaking by Harvard University EdX. She is motivated to give back and pave it forward after her challenging upbringing in Soweto and Orange Farm. Sonia manages the book-clubs and spelling-bees within the Trust. She is a serial entrepreneur and has won “Best Innovation in Manufacturing Award” at the SAB Kickstart Awards. She’s also a blogger (Opinion Booth), a podcast host and an author of 3 published books.
Matthew is an ex-professional footballer who heads the ‘sports-arm’ of the Trust by providing coaching clinics to worthy schools, clubs and communities.
Matthew has had a professional football career lasting nearly 20 years which has seen him play for a number of professional teams in South Africa and Russia and represented his country at the Olympics and the World Cup. During his playing days, he quickly realised that football development is virtually non-existent in South Africa and that the formation of the Trust will be able to rectify this even if it’s to a small degree. Matthew graduated with BA degree in Politics. He is a Supersport TV Football Pundit, Artificial Grass SA Director, DC Panel Member for the Premier Soccer League and the SA Institute for Drug Free Sports (SAIDS) and the co-founder and trustee of the SA Football Legends (NPC).
Has been employed by the Cape Town City Council for the last 40 years and is an engineer in the Roads Division.
He has also been an active member at Fish Hoek Association Football Club for most of his life at junior and senior level and is at present the Chairman of the club
Is a football agent and owner of Siyavuma sports management who acts on behalf of some of South Africa’s most exciting football talent and is extremely knowledgeable about the local game.
is a lawyer and CA who has helped enormously to set up the Trust.
