The Booth Education and Sports Trust

The Trusts ‘vision’ is to inspire the joy of reading and at the same time help lay the basic foundation of learning which is to read! We also believe that education and sport go hand-in-hand and therefore want to encourage physical activity by organising football clinics.

Our Mission

The Trusts ‘mission’ is to contribute to the forming of ” a community of good” which will endow the youth with the tools to fullfil their potential through reading and football.

The Booth Education and Sports Trust is registered as a charitable trust incorporated in accordance with the trust laws of the Republic of South Africa and operating under the rules and regulations of the jurisdiction of the Republic of South Africa.

Sonia Bonneventia Booth
Director & Trustee

Sonia Bonneventia Booth is the co-founder of The Booth Education and Sports Trust. She holds a BComm in Marketing & Business Management and is motivated to give back after her challenging upbringing in Soweto and Orange Farm. Sonia manages the book-clubs and spelling-bees within the Trust. She is an entrepreneur and has won “Best Innovation in Manufacturing Award” at the SAB Kickstart Awards. A passionate reader and an aspiring author who is in the final stages of completing her book “How To Reinvent Yourself and Stay Relevant”.

Matthew Booth
Director & Trustee

Matthew Booth is the co-founder. An avid reader and ex-professional sportsman, who heads the ‘sports-arm’ of the Trust by providing coaching clinics to worthy schools, clubs and communities.
Matthew has had a professional football career lasting nearly 20 years which has seen him play for a number of professional teams in South Africa and in Russia and represented his country at the Olympics and the World Cup. Now that he has retired he is pursuing a BA degree through the University of South Africa and concentrating on the Trusts’ contributions to the community which has supported him during his career?. During his playing days, he quickly realised that football development is virtually non-existant in South Africa and that the formation of the Trust will be able to rectify this fact even if it’s to a small degree. Matthew also writes articles for the Sowetan newspaper and is a panelist for the SABC’s football shows.

Investors

Paul Booth
Investor (Cape Town)

Has been employed by the Cape Town City Council for the last 40 years and is an engineer in the Roads Division.
He has also been an active member at Fish Hoek Association Football Club for most of his life at junior and senior level and is at present the Chairman of the club

Paul Mitchell
Investor ( Johannesburg )

Is a football agent and owner of Siyavuma sports management who acts on behalf of some of South Africa’s most exciting football talent and is extremely knowledgeable about the local game.

Michael Bullock
Investor ( Cape Town )

is a lawyer and CA who has helped enormously to set up the Trust.
